HIGHTLIGHTS OF DAKAR PRESS CONFERENCE

November 27th: the Dakar press conference was held at the Peruvian Embassy (Paris) in the presence of BFGoodrich, a couple of pilots (Nani Roma, Sebastien Loeb, Stephen Peterhansel…), Dakar representatives and journalists. A look back at the highlights of the presentation of Dakar 2019.

Time is ticking away; the Dakar 19 starting line is getting closer and closer to our tires. Our BFGoodrich® Good Project winner, Sergio Samaniego, is increasing his rhythm trying to be ready on time. As the preparation is getting tough, there are few news to point out about Dakar 19.
Few figures: 10 steps, 5000 kilometers, 100% sand, 534 pilots and co-pilots and more than 330 vehicles. Here are the key information about this 2019 Dakar Edition, who looks promising with the announcement of some specificities like the stage 2 between Pisco and San Juan de Marcoma where the car will open the tracks. The co-pilots will have to work hard for the navigation!

This year, the BFGoodrich Dakar Service Center will welcome participants at a bigger and more diversified facility divided into four different zones: a fitting zone, a displays of the brand’s Dakar tires, a hospitality area, and an area for casual visitors.
BFGoodrich® will introduce improvements towards its tires for the Dakar 19. The improvement will be seen on the BFGoodrich® All Terrain T/A KDR2+ by including not only the medium-compound version of this tire but as well a softer alternative. It will allow adaption of teams’ vehicle throughout every challenge that they could meet in the race. The difference will also come with the new BFGoodrich® KM3 launched in 2018, that was built for every off-road lover. The tire includes several new technologies and performance such as a tire Terrain-AttackTM, to deliver efficient traction in mud, the Krawl-TEK compound which ensures the right grip on rocks and smooth ground and a Linear Flex Zone technology allowing the tire to adapt itself when racing with low tire pressures.

Another novelty for BFGoodrich®, is the participation of Sergio Samaniego, the BFGoodrich® Good Project winner, who is hardly getting prepared to follow his dream: running the Dakar.
